….You Shouldn’t Buy Bad Wine

December 3rd, 2007 Posted in Business

Bad Wine
1. It’s not like you’re going to down a bottle of Pinot or Chardonnay just to get a buzz on (that’s the job for a six pack of Bud Lite). Instead, the focus on wine should be quality, not quantity.

2. Bad wine tastes, well, bad. The problem is many people don’t know they’re drinking terrible wine until they drink a half-decent bottle - and we not talking about a vintage Chateauneuf du Pape or other fancy-smanchy wines that Robert Parker insists you drink. So instead of picking up that bottle of “Two-buck Chuck” the next time you’re in the liquor store, think quality.

3. Buying bad wine just encourages those multi-national vintners to pump out even more high-margin bad wine. You’re just playing into the hands of crafty sales and marketing executives who try to fool consumers by digusing bad wine by giving them names using animals (e.g. Little Penguin) or using cool looking labels.

4. Good wine is one of life’s finer pleasures. It doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. For $20, you should be able to buy something decent.
