…Line-ups Seem Longer Than Ever Before

Standing In Line
1. According to a 1989 study by the Rocky Mountain News, people spend five years of their lives waiting in line. Mmm…maybe if we all move to do things online, line-ups would get shorter…

2. As the National Post notes, Toronto time-management guru Harold Taylor believes that technology has made people more impatient than ever before. He comments, “Technology has programmed us to expect instant action.” The concept of waiting seems to becoming antiquated in the age of technology. However, this doesn’t explain why some lined up for hours to see the premiere ofthe most recent Star Wars (arguably the worst movies ever made).

3. You fill your brain with useless information, particularly in supermarket lines, whether it be eavesdropping on someone else’s phone calls or reading tabloid news. You know don’t to, but you just can’t help yourself from finding out what the latest is with Britney.

4. It’s a vicious circle - people’s impatience makes other people more impatient!

5. Nobody is ever prepared to wait in line. While texting and Blackberries can help pass the time, for the most part it is completely void of any productive value. Bring a book, pen, paper…make it useful time!
